Shopper/Hero poster
Pro bono design for Post-Museum for their efforts to promote local non-profit organisations.
A voluntary project for the SPCA; a set of 8 panels for use in schools and roadshows. Only minimalistic design due to the large amount of text to work with.
Banner, standee and A4 signs for ITE campuses. A pitching job for a statutory board.
As the target audience are teenagers who are largely skeptical of ‘propaganda’, the messages must be put across in a light-hearted way. A mix of retro and punk-rock elements were used to create a style that is non-threatening. A dash of humour was also added by showing the food that are ‘angels’, versus those that are ‘devils’.
They actually tried another volunteer but he/she delivered a design they were not keen on. Am doing a set of exhibition panels for them, will put pics up when completed.
The dog's ears are pricked up and its head tilted to one side, projecting a sense of curiosity to find out more about the concert. There is a treble clef branded on the dog, symbolising that music is inherent in each of the choir members. The dog also holds a conductor's baton in its mouth, representing that the members are alert and all ready for their first swing into action. Green is used as the overriding colour because it represents youth and growth. Radial patterns in the background show the melodious tunes emitting from the choir.
Bus wrap. Graphics are positioned so that the bus' exhaust gas will seem like the character's fart. Boarding the bus means saying bye-bye to stomach discomfort, representing the product's USP.
Point-of-sales to bring shoppers' eyes to the product.
Because of gratitude to sponsors, SPCA event posters need to fit in a lot of content and tend to have a tight timeline. Here the same 'template' is used for all 3 years, slightly tweaked to reflect the change in venue and theme.
Poster for an on-going series of performances by students of a music school. Photographs of the 'star students' were used to highlight and create a vibrant vibe, lending a fun feel to the event.

My Philosophy
I find communication work challenging, as it takes proper research and thought to zero in on the most suitable way to communicate a message. Many creative agencies provide random copy/designs, which only fulfil the minimal purpose of being there for the client to use. But is the maximum potential reached?
Pixel Hippie aims to do adequate research and digestion, only proposing concepts that I truly believe will work for the client. My double-set of skills in both academic (copywriting) and aesthetics (design) will ensure that each communication solution is well-blended.
Take a look at my portfolio (click on the pics to enlarge them), and do drop me a note if you're keen to offer an opportunity for collaboration.
