The traditional tau sar piah is dying off as younger generations flock to imported mass-produced tidbits. After talking to the many TSP bakeries along Balestier Road, I felt a revamp of its image was necessary:
- Producing mini bite-size versions
- Making the box more stream-lined so it is easy to hold and slip into bags
- Having a convenient flap so teenagers can pop them while on the move
- Inner bag contains any oil smudges so pack remains clean
- Rounded shape reminiscent of hat boxes to evoke a whiff of nostalgia
- Illustration overhauls image of 'ah pek' bakers as old fogeys and gives a warm and baked-with-love feel.

I find communication work challenging, as it takes proper research and thought to zero in on the most suitable way to communicate a message. Many creative agencies provide random copy/designs, which only fulfil the minimal purpose of being there for the client to use. But is the maximum potential reached?
Pixel Hippie aims to do adequate research and digestion, only proposing concepts that I truly believe will work for the client. My double-set of skills in both academic (copywriting) and aesthetics (design) will ensure that each communication solution is well-blended.
Take a look at my portfolio (click on the pics to enlarge them), and do drop me a note if you're keen to offer an opportunity for collaboration.
